Unhide hidden files or folders from virus infected pendrive and external drives

Hey Friends,

Is your Pendrive suddenly showing empty and in properties its saying it has lots of used space and when unhiding folders then all your data showing as hidden files and folders. Then definitely your all data got infected by a virus and also you are unable to change it to visible as the hidden tick box in the properties of files and folder is grayed.

Below i am going to give you solution for this issue. Just do according to it and get rid from hidden data issue.

Temporary solution to access your data :

Click on Start –> In search box, type folder options and press Enter.

“Folder Options” will be opened. Click on the “View” tab.

Now select the option ” Show hidden files  & folders ” and uncheck the

check box “Hide protected operating system files” –> Click on “OK” button.

Now look for your files in your drive.

Later you can undo that changes you have made by once again going to “Folder Options”

–> Click on “View” tab and click on “Restore Defaults” button –> Click on “OK”.

Permanent Solution to make it unhide hidden files as normal :

Plug your USB Pendrive or Any drive which is Affected.
Step 1:

Go to Start -> Run-> Type CMD and Enter
Step 2:

Find the drive letter of  the connected drive.  For Example =  I:  ( Here i am assuming it as I )

In command prompt, type I:

and Hit enter. Command Prompt will show I:/
Step 3:

Then type

attrib -s -h /s /d *.*

Make sure that you have putted space between each elements in the code.

and hit enter and wait for few seconds.

Now check all your data got unhidden permanently.

Another remaining solutions :

1. Install good antivirus and scan entire computer including the flash drive/external hard disk.

2. Scan you drive by Anti-Malware software.

Now a days all the people use USB Flash drives like Pendrive, External Hard Disk and Memory cards and many more. They all skipped DVD & CD. And Mostof the pen drive doesn’t have any security measures. Since we use Pen drives in many PC’s or Laptop’s, so its very easily gets infected with viruses and malwares. But don’t worry, We can easily get rid of these Malwares by scanning it with any good updated Antivirus (no need of Format as it leads to Data loss).

All solutions are applicable for any memory drive like hard drive, pendrive, memory card, external drive or more.
